No Mauritius ID card recovered from terrorists: Mauritius

New York, Dec 4 (PTI) Refuting reports of a Mauritian
identity card being recovered from one of the slain terrorists
who attacked India's financial capital Mumbai, Mauritius has
said the only document found bearing the country's stamp was
of a bank official, who was killed in the terror siege.

The Mauritius Mission to the UN has said that no
identity, credit or debit cards of Mauritius were found in the
bags of terrorists who attacked Mumbai last week killing over
180 people.

"The Indian authorities have informed us that all that
has been found is the legitimate Mauritian identity card
issued in the name of late Mr Chaitalall Gunness, former CEO
of the State Bank of Mauritius Ltd," the statement said.

The former bank official was unfortunately killed in the
terror attacks in India's financial capital, it said.

The card, it said, was found in the lobby of the Taj
Mahal Hotel, which was among the places attacked by the
terrorists.

Reports had earlier said that one of the three terrorists
killed in the Oberoi-Trident hotel carried a Mauritius
identity card. PTI DS
