INDONESIA KEEPS MONITORING POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS IN THAILAND
Jakarta, Dec 4 (ANTARA)- The Indonesian government keeps paying careful attention on Thailand's political developments and understand the postponement of the 14th ASEAN summit due to the Thai political crisis, a statement said.
The Thai constitutional court's decision to fire Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat has increased complexity of the Thai political crisis, the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement here on Wednesday.
The complicated process of the government transition has led to the postponement of the 14th ASEAN summit, which was scheduled in December, 2008.
In a bid to maintain the momentum of ASEAN cooperation, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono proposed that the ASEAN summit be held at the ASEAN secretariat building in Jakarta, and the ASEAN Finance Ministers meeting+3 to discuss the global financial crisis, in Bali.
ASEAN groups Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, The Philippines and Vietnam.
