Electronic Arts acquires Korean online game maker

SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Yonhap) -- Electronic Arts (EA) Inc., a U.S.-based gaming giant,
said Wednesday it has acquired a South Korean online game company to strengthen
its development and publishing arm in Asia
EA's acquisition of J2MSoft Inc., the developer of South Korean titles such as
RayCity, TAAN and other online games, was completed effective Tuesday, EA Korea
said in a statement. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
"This is a significant step in EA's strategic plan for developing and publishing
online games in Asia," Jon Niermann, president of EA Asia, said.
In late May, EA acquired Hands-On Mobile Korea, a developer of games for mobile
phones. It is currently placed under EA Mobile Asia, the U.S. company's regional
mobile division.
