Top S. Korean speed skater rehabilitating after knee surgery
SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's top short track speed skater Ahn Hyun-soo
entered a personal rehabilitation program Wednesday after last month's operation
to treat his knee injury, his agency said.
The three-time Olympic gold medalist suffered a knee fracture early this year
after slamming into a fence while training. Ahn has since received three
surgeries, the final one being performed last month to help relieve inflammation
on the injured left knee.
Ahn, 23, won four medals, including three golds, in the 2006 Turin Winter
Olympics. He is also a five-time world champion, capturing every single overall
title from 2003 to 2007.
"He has begun rehabilitation training with his personal trainer at his team," IB
Sports said in a statement, adding Ahn was released from the hospital on Tuesday.
Ahn hopes to recover fully by the time he competes for a spot on the South Korean
squad in April's national qualifying, the statement added.
