Tom Cruise to visit Seoul next month to promote new film
By Kim Young-gyo
SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Yonhap) -- Hollywood star Tom Cruise will come to Seoul next month
to promote his new film on the real life story on an attempt to assassinate Adolf
Hitler by a group of German officers, the film's producer said Wednesday.
"(South) Korea remains one of the few territories in the world where hit films
can score more than US$50 million, which is why next month my director Bryan
Singer and my star Tom Cruise would be here in Korea to premier 'Valkyrie,'" said
Korean-American Chris Lee, the film's executive producer.
It will be the fourth visit to Seoul by Cruise.
The film is based on the 1944 plot by German army officers to assassinate Adolf
Hitler. It marks the first collaboration between director Bryan Singer and
Oscar-winning screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie since their 1995 hit "The Usual
Suspects."
Cruise heads a cast of international stars including Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy,
Tom Wilkinson, Eddie Izzard, Christian Berkel, Thomas Kretschmann and Carice van
Houten
The film is to be released worldwide by United Artists on Jan. 22.
