Hynix develops world's fastest mobile DRAM
SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Yonhap) -- Hynix Semiconductor Inc., the world's No. 2 computer
memory maker, said Wednesday it developed a new DRAM for handheld devices that
provides twice the processing power than ones currently available.
The company's latest 2-gigabit mobile DRAM, which has a 1.6-gigabytes-per-second
processing speed, runs on less power than existing mobile DRAMS and meets all
major technical requirements for use in devices such as handsets and digital
cameras, Hynix said in a statement.
DRAM, or dynamic random access memory, is used in personal computers and other
electronic devices such as mobile phones. The company plans to begin mass
production of the new model in the first half of next year.
