S. Korea, Japan to hold annual women's golf competition at weekend

SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Japan will hold their annual women's
golf competition this weekend in the South Korean resort island of Jeju,
organizers said Wednesday.
The Pinx Cup, which began in 1999, is a two-day team event drawing the top women
golfers from the two countries. This year, South Korea will feature U.S. Open
champion Park In-bee, Lee Ji-hee and others, while Japan will be led by such
players as Akiko Fukushima and Yuri Fudoh, the women's golf governing bodies of
the two countries said.
A total of 26 players will compete in 24 rounds from Dec. 6-7, the KLPGA and the
JLPGA said, and each individual that belongs to the winning team will take away 3
million yen (US$32,000) as a prize.
South Korea won three times, lost four times and drew once against Japan in the
past. The competition was skipped in 2001.
