OSCE Centre in Astana supports seminar on local self-governance

A seminar on local self-government, organized by the Ministry of Regional Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning of the Republic of Kazakhstan, OSCE Centre in Astana, Mangystau regional administration, starts its work today 4 in Aktau. The training-seminar for mayors of rural and small town municipalities of Mangystau region focuses on three major aspects of local self-governance - legal framework and mechanisms; financial and economic framework and tools; ways and means to enhance the involvement of local citizens in the decision making and development processes. The trainees will be presented a printed version of a guide for rural and small town mayors, developed by OSCE-supported national experts. The training seminar is part of a series of five events planned this year, the OSCE Centre in Astana said.
