Investigation with Israel-linked terrorist cell continues
SANA'A, Dec. 02 (Saba) - The Specialized Penal Prosecution has been
investigating a six-member terrorist cell, known as Abul Ghaith
Cell, and that was linked to Israeli intelligence services.
A source at the prosecution expected investigations with the cell to
complete over the next few days, adding the case file will be sent
to court once this takes place.
The source said six members will go on trial after the Greater
Bairam holiday.
Security authorities have completed investigating the cell members
late October and then remitted the file to the Specialized Penal
Prosecution.
A security source made clear earlier that the terrorist cell that
was linked to Israeli spy authorities is the same cell whose members
were arrested in September and affiliated with the Islamic Jihad
Network in the country.
The cell had sent terrorist notes that it had plans to attack Arab
and foreign missions in Yemen including the embassies of Britain,
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Investigators found with one of the cell members, deputy cell
leader Basam Abdullah Fadhl al-Haidari, a computer set with which
they found out he was corresponding one of Israel's intelligence
bodies to commit terrorist attacks in Yemen.
The security forces arrested six members of Islamic Jihad Network in
Yemen which claimed responsibility for the last attack on the US
embassy in Sana'a that killed 19 persons.
On October 7, President Ali Abdullah Saleh has announced the
security forces had arrested a group of alleged Islamist militants
linked to Israeli intelligence.
