S. Korean handball squad returns from trouble-ridden Thailand

INCHEON, Dec. 2 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's women's handball squad returned from Thailand on Tuesday after procuring a flight out of the troubled country where it had won an Asian championship tournament.

The team initially intended to use an airport in Bangkok, but had to alter the
plan because thousands of anti-government protesters took control of two major
air terminals in the Thai capital.
The squad, which won the Asian Handball Championship over the weekend, traveled
several hours on an overnight bus to the southeastern resort city of Pataya early
Tuesday and boarded a Korean Air flight headed for home at an airport there, team
officials said.
Thai demonstrations calling for the resignation of the country's prime minister
have resulted in many as 300,000 travelers being stranded in Bangkok, according
to some media reports.
