Baqeri reaffirms Iran`s resolve to free hijacked ship
Tehran, Dec 2, IRNA - Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs said on Tuesday
that Islamic Republic of Iran is decisively active to free the Iranian
ship hijacked two weeks ago off Somalia.
Visiting the Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohammad-Reza Baqeri said
that Foreign Ministry and the Iranian Ports and Shipping Lines are
following up the case.
"We're determined not to let pirates get insolent and encouraged in
their work," he said in a meeting with IRNA international and
political editors.
Giving no further details, Baqeri said that those actions done by
pirates are likely due to the insecurity and instability in that
region including in African country of Somalia.
An Iranian-leased cargo ship 'Delight' carrying wheat to Iran with 25
crew on board from Iran, the Philippines, India, Pakistan and Ghana
was hijacked in the Indian Ocean on November 19 off Somalia.
