Plan to increase tourism revenues up to $ 1.3 bln by 2015, says

SANA'A, Dec. 01 (Saba)- Minister of Tourism Nabil al-Faqih said
that the ministry has plan to increase revenues of tourism and its
share in Gross Domestic Product to up more than $ 1.3 billion by
2015.

In an interview with al-Syasia daily, al-Faqih said that plan has
been carried out since 2006 which aims at increase number of
tourists to the country up to 1,150,000 tourists yearly.

"The plan also aims at improving capacities of the hotels from
23,180 rooms up to 33,520 rooms," he said.

The minister affirmed that the ministry achieved big progress in
carrying out electoral platform of President Ali Abdullah Saleh to
realize sustainable development for the tourism sector in the
country.

He also pointed out to the efforts of the ministry to encourage
tourism investments by allocating areas for setting up tourist
hotels and resorts and improving network of the basic services in
the tourist areas.

Regarding current arrangements for the 20th Gulf football
Competition, al-Faqih said that the Yemen is going ahead for
preparing for the key sports event.
