700,000 Somali refugees in Yemen, says official
SANA'A, Dec. 01 (Saba)- Some 700,000 Somali refugees are living now
in Yemen, Deputy Minister of Human Rights Ali Tisyer said on Monday.
During his meeting with the independent expert in human rights of
Somalis Shams al-Bari, Tisyer said that Yemen is still doing its
humanitarian duty toward refugees in spite of growing burdens on its
revenues as result of lack of international support.
Yemen becomes currently as one of the most world countries who
receive Somali refugees, and has fears from increasing their number,
which are over capacities of Yemen to offer care for them, he said.
He said that the United Nations support for refugees in Yemen is not
enough, calling for further support.
For his part, the human rights expert said that he would work to
increase support for Yemen to deal with needs of refugees who come
to Yemen. He highlighted efforts of Yemen exerted to present
required services for refugees.
