Al-Arhabi briefs UK Minister on Yemeni steps to join GCC
DOHA, Dec. 01 (Saba) - Minister of Planning and International
Cooperation Abdul Karim al-Arhabi briefed on Monday UK Development
Minister Douglas Alexander on the developments in the issue of
Yemen's accession into the Gulf Cooperation Council.
During the meeting, that was held on the sideline of the
International Conference on Financing for Development in Qatari
capital of Doha, both sides reviewed the Yemeni achievements in the
area of national reforms agenda and the government's efforts to
alleviate poverty.
The meeting also dealt with the nature of the development challenges
Yemen faces and the government's effort to diversify resources of
national income and develop the promising non-oil sectors.
The meeting discussed aspects of developing current cooperation
relations between Yemen and UK to serve the common interests.
The minister al-Arhabi praised the British government's keenness on
developing aspects of cooperation with Yemen.
For his part, the UK Development Minister expressed the British
government's satisfaction of the latest developments in the field of
national reforms agenda and democracy process in the country.
