Regional countries benefit from expansion of ties with Iran: Syrian official

Damascus, Des 1, IRNA - Head of Foreign Policy Commission of Syrian Majlis al-Shaab (People's Assembly) Suleiman Haddad said on Sunday that expansion of ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran would be to the benefit of all regional countries and nations.

He made the remark in a meeting with Iran's Charge d'Affaires to
Damascus Abdul Hadi Boroujerdi.

At the meeting, Haddad said the senior Syrian officials are determined
to broaden all-out relations with Iran.

Ties between Damascus and Tehran are very strong and deep-rooted, he
underlined.

Upon invitation by his Iranian counterpart he is to pay an official
visit to Iran in future, he said.

The Iranian diplomat, for his part, called the two sides' elations as
strategic, adding that such relations could turn into an model for
other countries in the region.

The two sides also expressed satisfaction with the excellent ties
between the two countries and explored avenues for further bolstering
of political, economic, cultural and parliamentary ties between the
two countries.
