South-Asia Forum UK asks India to work pro-actively

London, Dec 1 (PTI) Strongly condemning the terrorists'
attacks on Mumbai, South Asia Forum UK - a voluntary campaign body - has asked the Indian government to act pro-actively to prevent further terror strikes on its citizens.

"The Indian government must also pro-actively and
unilaterally take concrete, practical steps to prevent further
terrorist attacks on its citizens," the forum said in a
statement Monday.

"As terrorism is a global phenomenon the Government of
India will also need to take strong action in conjunction with
other governments, including Pakistan.

"However, the Indian authorities must refrain from
attaching blame for this atrocity on either the Muslim
community in India or to the Pakistan government."

The forum appealed to the Indian government to work
towards eradication of the root causes of radicalisation of
minority communities and along with other governments actively
seek to address these communities' genuine grievances.

"In addition, the forum urges the British government
and its allies to act urgently to prevent any escalation of
tensions that may lead to creating divisions amongst South
Asian communities anywhere in the world." PTI
