PRESIDENT YUDHOYONO RECEIVES INDIAN PRESIDENT
Jakarta, Dec. 1 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at Merdeka Palace, here, on Monday, received visiting Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil.
Patil wearing a white saree was greeted in a state welcoming ceremony.
During her state visit to Indonesia, from November 28 to December 3, 2008, President Patil is being accompanied among others by Indian Minister of State for Industry Ashwani Kumar, Presidential Secretary Christy Fernandez, and legislators - Rubab Sayeda, Haribhau M Jawale, and Kum Agatha K Sangma.
Yudhoyono and Patil were expected to hold a bilateral meeting to discuss efforts to strengthen bilateral relations of the two countries.
Indonesia's and India's officials were scheduled to discuss memorandums of understanding on sports, youth, oil, gas, agriculture and student exchange cooperation.
Earlier, President Patil went to Kalibata Heroes' Cemetery to lay a wreath to the nation's fallen heroes on Monday morning.
After holding a meeting with President Yudhoyono, the Indian president was scheduled to meet People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Hidayat Nurwahid, Regional Representative Council (DPD) Chairman Ginandjar Kartasasmita and Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Agung Laksono.
Arriving in Denpasar, Bali Island, on Friday evening (Nov. 28), President Patil visited Taman Ayung temple in Bali on Saturday and held a meeting with Indian community in Bali.
