RI'S TOURISM PROMOTION IN CHINA TO BE MORE INTEGRATED IN 2009, OFFICIAL

Beijing, Nov 30 (ANTARA) - Indonesia's tourism promotion by Indonesia's representatives in Beijing and several cities in China in 2009 would be more coordinated and integrated to reach optimal results, an official said.
"With the objective of more integrated and coordinated promotion, we expect to reach more precise targets," head of the social and cultural division of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, Rosmalawati Khalid, said here Sunday.

She made the statement when explaining the result of a coordination meetings between the embassy and the national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Chaired by the Indonesian ambassador to China Sudrajat, the embassy were also had meetings with office of Indonesia's largest bank, Bank Mandiri, in Shanghai on November 28 to 29, 2008.

Rosmalawati explained that the tourism sector was among the issues discussed in the meeting, including a hearing between the embassy and Garuda Indonesia's representative in China.

She said China did a lot of promotions and held special exhibitions each year on tourism, and socio-cultural sector in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong.

"Therefore, we have asked all Indonesian representative offices in China to coordinate and do their duty based on their respective jurisdictions," she said.

Rosmalawati took as example the Beijing International Travel Expo. The Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, she said, was expected to take part in the activity based on their accreditted area and establish coordination in case of an Indonesian participant in the event.

Furthermore, the Indonesian Consulates General in Hong Kong and Guangzhou were also asked to take an active role in tourism promotion.
