INT'L TERRORISTS STARTING TO POSE THREAT IN RI : TNI CHIEF

Blitar, Dec 29 (ANTARA) - Global as well as regional terrorists have started to expand their threat to Indonesia, National Defense Forces (TNI) Chief Gen Djoko Santoso said here on Saturday.
"We have to admit that the threat of terrorism is already in Indonesia ," Santoso said, adding that the threat in the country could come in the form of physical violence and other acts such as bombing threats conveyed by telephone.
He even said that sooner or later global and regional terrorists threat would arrive in Indonesia.
"As we know, terrorist acts have happened in Mumbai, India, and in Thailand. We have detected and prevented such acts from happening in Indonesia," the TNI chief said.
"At a recent Asia-Pacific Military Commanders Conference in Bali , we agreed on a common perception in the management of terrorism," he added.
Asked about TNI's preparedness to face the terrorist threat, Djoko Santoso said he would do his job as mandated in Law No.34/2004.
"It is said in the law that one of the TNI's tasks is to overcome all forms of terrorism in Indonesia. Of course we cannot do it ourselves and therefore we will continue to coordinate with both the national and regional police," Djoko Santoso said.
In addition, he also asked for the people's active participation
