President calls for measures to save region from US economic crisis

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Saturday called for adopting
collective measures to save the developing nations from the rampant US
economic crisis.

In his meeting with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al- Thani
on the sidelines of the International Conference on 'Financing and
Development' in Doha, President Ahmadinejad urged the Islamic states
to remove regional obstacles by "relying on their own capabilities."
Referring to the regional crises in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan,
President Ahmadinejad called for the Middle East countries to develop
regional cooperation to solve them.

"Regional problems should be resolved by the regional countries not by
any intruder," he said in reference to the foreign forces in the
Persian Gulf region that "do not improve the situation but aggravates
it."
Ahmadinejad appreciated Qatari Emir for successful performance of the
UN-sponsored Conference on Financing and Development underway in Qatar
from November 29.

Meanwhile, Emir al-Thani welcomed president Ahmadinejad's presence in
the international event.

Referring to Tehran-Doha brotherly ties, the Qatari Emir said that the
regional countries are Iran's friendly states.
