Korea, China and Japan to discuss cooperation on environment
SEOUL, Nov. 30 (Yonhap) -- Environment ministers from South Korea, Japan and
China will meet this week for their annual talks aimed at increasing cooperation
on environmental issues, the Ministry of Environment said Sunday.
The three-way meeting, known as the Tripartite Environment Ministers Meeting,
will be held in the South Korea's southern resort island of Jeju on Tuesday, the
ministry said.
"The three ministers will discuss ways to build low-carbon economies and the
countries' continuing efforts to curb yellow dust," it said.
The environment ministers' meeting was initiated by Seoul in 1999 to seek joint
efforts on reducing the chemical-laden dust from China.
Seoul plans to propose at this week's meeting that they also work to establish a
network against yellow dust that includes other nations in the region, the
ministry said.
