President receives Commander of U.S. Central Military Command
ADEN, Nov. 29 (Saba)-President Ali Abdullah Saleh received on
Saturday in Aden the Commander of U.S. Central Military Command
David Petraeus who is currently visiting Yemen.
They discussed fields of the mutual cooperation between Yemen and
United States especially security cooperation and combating terror.
They also discussed coordination between the two countries and the
regional and international efforts to combat acts of piracy in Aden
Gulf, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean.
The American commander praised level of the Yemeni-US relationship
and recent achievements of Yemen in field of combating terrorism.
He also exerted condolence to the president Saleh and Yemeni people
on victims of the terror attack which targeted the US embassy in
Sana'a and victims of flood that hit Hadramout and al-Maharah
governorates.
He affirmed concern of the United States to enhance its ties with
Yemen to support efforts in facing terrorism especially in field of
training and qualifying Yemeni coastguard.
President Saleh highlighted Yemeni-US ties and mutual cooperation,
affirming concern of Yemen to push these ties forward.
Saleh renewed call of setting up a regional center in Yemen to
combat acts of piracy in participation of United States and European
Union.
