ROUNDTABLE ON JUDGES`S ROLE IN PROTECTION OF FREEDOM OF SPEECH HELD
Baku, 29 November,(AzerTAj)A “roundtable” meeting on the theme “judges` role in protection of freedom of speech” was held Saturday in the Judicial Council of Azerbaijan with 25 judges in attendance.
The “roundtable” was co-organized by Judicial Council of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan
Lawyers Confederation (ALC) and American Bar Association (ABA).
Speaking to the event, ALC President and chairman of Parliament`s standing
commission on legal policy and state building Ali Huseynov and ABA CEELI Country
Director David Rubino stressed the importance of such meetings.
ABA expert Anthony Winter reported on the role of courts in the US in protecting
freedom of speech and touched on his country`s practice in the related issue.
