AZERBAIJAN CONSULAR OFFICERS GATHER IN BAKU

Baku, 29 November,(AzerTAj)The second meeting of the executives responsible for consular issues of Azerbaijan`s foreign missions started Saturday at the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.

The meeting discussed a wide range of issues, including activity of consulates,
capacity building of consular officers, and address mistakes and problems and ways
of solving them.
The meeting started with opening remarks by Deputy Foreign Minister Vagif Sadigov.
Nadir Huseynov, chair at the meeting and chief of the Foreign Ministry`s Consular
Department, reported on the follow-up to the first conference held in 2006.
Under the program prepared, the meeting will be continued on December 1-4 in order
to build the capacity of consular officers.
The meeting will bring together consular officers of Azerbaijan`s embassies and
consulates in 55 foreign countries, as well as representatives of the Ministry`s
office in Nakhchivan.
During the meeting officials of 14 government agencies will answer the diplomats`
questions.
Prior to the meeting, the participants visited the Alley of Honors, where they laid
a wreath at the tomb of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev, and put flowers at the
grave of eminent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
They also visited the Alley of Martyrs to pay respect to Azerbaijan`s brave sons,
who died for the independence and territorial integrity of the country.
