ALECSO condemns vandalism targeting schools in Bahrain
Tunis, May 31 (BNA)-- The curtain has been rolled down on the 22nd session of the general conference of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) which was held in the Tunisian capital, Tunis. The Arab Education Ministers stressed in the concluding communique full support to all measures taken to ensure stability at schools and educational establishments in the Arab countries. They emphasised the need to steer educational institutions clear of political and ideological conflicts.
They were updated on the politically-motivated terror attacks targeting schools in Bahrain, in breach of international and humanitarian laws. The communique strongly condemned such violations which deprive children of their inalienable right to education.
Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi highlighted in a speech Bahrain's efforts to develop the educational sector, condemning vandalism targeting the educational establishments in Bahrain which contravenes religious ethics as well as international laws and covenants.
A documentary was also screened by Bahrain Teachers' Society chairperson Safiya Shamsan on the deliberate and systematic subversive acts targeting schools in Bahrain and putting students' safety at risk.
The Arab Education Ministers firmly condemned such criminal acts and decided to hold various functions in Bahrain, including educational symposiums and workshops.
