Labour Assistant Undersecretary meets US official

Manama, May 22 (BNA) – Labour Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Ali Al-Ansari, today met Deputy Head of Political and Economic Department of the U.S. Embassy, Rebecca Ann Severn. The parties discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation, especially in labour field and the development of trade union activities and its related organizations in accordance with the current national laws and international labour standards. Labour Assistant Undersecretary reviewed Labour Market's reform project in Bahrain, including the unemployment insurance system and training and rehabilitation programmes for unemployed national cadre. The US official noted the write-off of the ILO workers' complaint against the Kingdom of Bahrain and highlighted reinforcing cooperation to contribute to achieving both countries' desired goals. MJ
