FIVE INDONESIANS EVACUATED FROM MUMBAI`S OBEROI HOTEL

Jakarta, Nov 28 (ANTARA) - Five Indonesian citizens who were trapped in the besieged Oberoi Hotel in Mumbai, India, were successfully evacuated at noon on Friday by Indian security forces, an Indonesian foreign ministry spokesman said.

"They are now safe at the Indonesian mission in Mumbai. We are very pleased with the developments in their case," Teuku Faizasyah of the Foreign Affairs Ministry said.

The five Indonesians were migrant workers working for the hotel based on contracts to expire in December, he added.

"Their families have been notified about the situation and about what the Indonesian government has done and will do," Faizasyah said.

"The five Indonesian migrant workers are bound by their contracts in India. Our representatives in Mumbai are trying to make sure that they remain in good condition, physically and emotionally. We will also discuss their further plans, whether they want to continue working until the expiry of their contracts or return to Indonesia. If they decide to end their contract, our representatives will facilitate negotiations with their employer and make sure they get their rights," Faizasyah said.

A series of terrorist attacks in India's financial capital Mumbai that began Wednesday night (Nov 26) killed at least 101 people and injured more than 300 in targeted luxury hotels, a restaurant, hospitals and a train station.

According to several media sources, the gunmen rounded up American and British passport-holders at the hotels and held them hostage.

The five Indonesian migrant workers are Ni Kadek Dharmayanti, Ni Nyoman sri Arini, I Gusti Ayu Putu Sari Rahayu, Anak Agung Komang Triastina and Ni Luh Gde Mahendrayani.

They are all from Bali and work as spa theraphists at the Oberoi Hotel.
