Dozens of Vietnamese tourists stuck at Thai airport

Hanoi (VNA) - Some 40 Vietnamese tourists and 20 other passengers on Vietnam
Airlines' Nov. 25 and 26 flights were stranded at Thailand 's Suvarnabhumi
Airport , VNA correspondent reported on Nov. 26.

In the last two days, hundreds of anti-government protesters flowed into the
terminal and blocked it down in an attempt to stop Thai PM Somchai from returning
to the country.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok is contacting and working with local
authorities to identify the number of delayed Vietnamese and preparing a plan to
help them.

Two officers of Ho Chi Minh City 's Department of External Affairs and two
others of the Vietnamese Embassy managed to get out of the besieged airport and
reach the embassy in safety, Vietnamese diplomats and aviation officials were
quoted as saying.

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced on Nov. 26 that it had cancelled
indefinitely all of its flights from Bangkok to Hanoi and vice versa because
of the "complicated situation" at the Suvarnabhumi Airport .

The Airlines has also set up a hotline at 84-4-38320320 for passengers planning to
travel to Thailand.-Enditem
