State Minister for Information Affairs takes part in Arab Media Forum
Kuwait, April 27 (BNA)-- State Minister for Information Affairs Samira Ibrahim bin Rajab, the government's official Spokesperson, stressed today the importance of media production in influencing the behaviour of the individual and the community.
Speaking at the 11th edition of the Arab Media Forum, which got underway in Kuwait today under the aegis and presence of Kuwaiti Prime Minister Shaikh Jaber Al Mubarak Al Hamad Al Sabah, she underscored the importance of social awareness in fostering security and stability.
She underlined the key role played by mass media in this regard, pointing out that security and stability is no longer achievable solely through traditional measures like implementing laws, boosting military defence and signing security agreements.
The opening ceremony of the forum, themed "Changes and Challenges", was attended by Kuwaiti Information Minister and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Shaikh Salman Al-Salem Al-Humood Al Sabah, Arab Information Ministers, media persons, writers and journalists from the Gulf and Arab countries.
The State Minister for Information Affairs described the forum, which was first launched in Kuwait and held annually there, as a platform to exchange media experiences dictated by new emerging challenges to the sector.
She said the media sector, with its sophisticated structure, has become a key channel to increase social awareness and shape culture by adjusting behaviour and boosting the intellect.
She added that developed countries are according great importance to the media sector by giving it priority in their programmes and projects given its direct influence on increasing awareness and fostering social security and stability.
She pointed out great budgets required by the media industry and investment to attain set up goals conveniently, stressing that the forum will provide an opportunity to exchange views and experiences to develop the media sector.
She thanked the officials in charge of the forum, wishing it every success in achieving forecast goals.
