BJP moves EC over Deora's announcement of fuel price cut
New Delhi, Nov 26 (PTI) Angered by Indian government's
announcement on reduction of petrol prices, the Bhartiya
Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday moved the Election Commission
demanding action against the Congress and the United
Progressive Alliance (UPA) government for violation of the
model code of conduct.
Petroleum Minister Murli Deora's statement on reduction
of petrol prices after assembly polls amounts to a clear
violation of the model code of conduct, BJP Vice President
Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters here.
A BJP delegation led by Naqvi submitted a memorandum to
the Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalswami demanding action
against the Congress and the UPA government.
Besides Naqvi, BJP leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and Balbir
Punj were part the delegation.
Deora had earlier said the Government will cut petrol and
diesel prices after December 24 when the Assembly elections
are over. PTI JOY
