BALI-INDIA FOUNDATION TO TEACH YOGA AT HOSPITALS

Denpasar, Bali Province, Nov. 27 (ANTARA) - The Bali-India Foundation will establish cooperation with a number of hospitals in Bali Province to teach yoga to patients and relatives.

"Documents of the cooperation agreement with a number of hospitals such as Medistra Hospital have been signed, and hopefully could be implemented soon," Dr Somvir, the foundation's chairman, said here on Thursday.

Yoga meditation could help speed up health recovery of patients, he said.

In addition to hospitals on Bali Island, the foundation has also given yoga exercise to employees of state Telecommunication company PT Telkom and state electricity company PT PLN.

Dr Somvir, a spiritual tourism lecturer at Udayana University, said that his foundation also explored a possibility to give yoga training to lecturers and students of Udayana University's Medical Faculty.

After joining yoga lesson for three months, some 80 percent of cancer, fever, flu and stressed patients recovered, he said.

Yoga became a public attention in Indonesia recently, following a statement of a lecturer at the Malaysia National University, Zakaria Stapa, which said that Yoga is an element of Hindu teachings and that it could affect the faith of Yoga practicing Muslims.
