RI'S STAND DRAWS ATTENTION IN SLOVAKIA'S BAZAAR

London, Nov 26 (ANTARA) - Indonesia's stand in the 18th International Christmas Bazaar in Slovakia, drew large attention of visitors to the event, an official said.

Held by the International Women's Club (IWCB) in Bratislavia, Slovakia, the event was the biggest bazaar ever conducted in Slovakia, First Secretary for Social and Cultural Affairs at Indonesia's Embassy in Bratislavia, Wanton Saragih Sidauruk, said here Wednesday.

According to Wanton, on the occasion Indonesia's Embassy promoted the country by introducing such traditional foods as sate, fried rice, fried noodle, martabak, risoles, tofu, bakwan and layer cake.

The embassy, he said, also promoted such traditional handicraft products as batik scarf, wallet, fan, key ring, bag, sandal, and batik clothes.

The stand immediatley attracted visitors that Indonesia's bazaar committee noted there were 4.275 visitors coming to the stand.

Indonesia's stand was decorated with banners picturing the country's ethnic groups, cultures and natural panoramas. The committee also put the logo of "Visit Indonesia Year 2008" to lure visitors.

Wanton said Slovakia's foreign minister Jan Kubis along with his wife and daughter also visited Indonesia's stand and received batik scarf as souvenir.

During the visit, the foreign minister was accompanied by Charge D'Affairs at Indonesia's Embassy in Bratislava, Firdauzie Dwiandika and his wife Ella Firdauzie.

Wanton said that revenues from the sales at the bazaar totaling SKK 27.126 or about US$ 1.170 would be handled down by chairperson of the Indonesian Women Community (DWP) in Slovakia, Ella Firdauzie, to the IWCB. Indonesia's Embassy also presented two sets of chair with traditional motifs of the country as one of the "door prize" for the visitor.

The annual bazaar held by IWCB was a charity event to help collect money for the disabled and orphans, and other social foundations across Slovakia. The event also attracted the media.
Wanton said media such as STV, TV JOJ and TA3, the biggest tv station with specialization in news broadcasting, aired Indonesia's stand and interviewed the stand's attendants.

The event was also participated in by several foreign embassies in Slovakia like those of India, Egypt, France, Japan, Korea, China, the Netherlands, Germany, the US, Poland, Serbia, Brazil, and Turky. Other participants were private educational institutions including British School.
