MILLI MAJLIS SPEAKER MEETS USAID ADMINISTRATOR AND DIRECTOR OF U.S. FOREIGN ASSISTANCE

Baku, 26 November,(AzerTAj)Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis (Parliament) Ogtay Asadov met Wednesday with visiting USAID Administrator and Director of United States Foreign Assistance Henrietta Fore.

Ogtay Asadov said his country fruitfully cooperates with international organizations
and USAID.
According to the Speaker, the understanding memorandum signed between USAID and
Milli Majlis in 2007 provides great opportunities for the organization`s activities
in Azerbaijan.
Mr. Asadov noted USAID Parliamentary Program in Azerbaijan was important to improve
activities of Milli Majlis.
Henrietta Fore, in turn, said the United States supports promotion of democracy in
Azerbaijan, and the country`s integration into Europe.
According to her, every country needs to enjoy powerful legislative and executive
bodies.
She also stressed USAID attaches great importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan,
and supports implementation of reforms in the country.
The sides also exchanged views on expanding USAID Parliamentary Program in
Azerbaijan, carrying out reforms in the country by the organization and other
issues.
