UAE commences construction of Dh2.9 million hospital in Kabul
Kabul, Nov 27, 2008 (WAM) - The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) laid yesterday the foundation stone of a psychiatric hospital here as part of UAE efforts to develop health services in Afghanistan.
Humaid Al Shamsi, Head of Emergency Response Unit, said the Dh 2.9 million health facility, the largest of its kind in Afghanistan in term of capacity and fittings, would provide health services for Afghanis who were suffering psychological shocks from the tragic circumstances and event in the country.
Fatima Gilani, Chairman of the Afghani Red Crescent, said the construction of 300 bed hospital would take one year.
Abdullah Al Murshdi, Director of RCA Office in Afghanistan, said the hospital is part of a series of health and humanitarian projects financed by UAE philanthropists.
''So far, the RCA has offered Dh 104 million in relief and humanitarian assistance,” he added.
