AZERBAIJAN TO IMPROVE AIDS LEGISLATION
Baku, 26 November,(AzerTAj)Azerbaijan`s parliament will introduce a new law to strengthen prevention and control of Aids, said Hadi Rajabli, head of the parliament`s commission on social policy.
Azerbaijan was one of the first CIS countries to adopt an Aids legislation in 1996.
According to Rajabli, “however, most of the law`s provisions do not meet the
requirements of the contemporary world where diseases like Aids pose an exceptional
threat to mankind.”
“We need to improve our legislation in order to strengthen the prevention and
control over the disease.” said Rajabli.
The parliament has already set up a working group appointing Musa Guliyev, Rajabli`s
deputy, as its head to prepare a draft of the legislation until the end of 2008.
The bill is expected to be submitted for the parliament`s approval at its summer
session next year.
