Twenty-six S. Koreans trapped in hotel by gunmen: diplomat

NEW DELHI, Nov. 26 (Yonhap) -- Twenty-six South Korean businessmen were trapped in a five-star hotel in Mumbai Wednesday as a group of gunmen were holed up inside to face local police forces, a South Korean diplomat stationed here said.

No South Korean casualties have been reported.
The terrorists are confronting police in the Taj Majal Hotel in downtown Mumbai,
the commercial capital of India, as the South Koreans, mostly employees of South
Korean firms based in Mumbai, were dining at the sky lounge of the hotel. Mumbai
is formerly known as Bombay.
Groups of gunmen went on a shooting rampage at the Taj Majal and several other
hotels, restaurants and streets late Wednesday night, killing more than 80 people
and injuring scores of others, according to local police. Bomb explosions were
also heard in several other places, police said.
"A total of 26 South Koreans are currently held at the sky lounge of the hotel as
they are not able to come out due to the terrorists confronting police inside the
hotel," the diplomat said. "We've not yet received any report of South Korean
casualties."
