Justice official says Israeli espionage team arrested
Tehran, Nov 26, IRNA Tehran Prosecutor General Saeed Mortazavi said on Tuesday that a spy network affiliated to Mossad intelligence service of the Zionist regime has been arrested by the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps.
Talking to reporters, he said that members of the group along with
their sophisticated spy and satellite equipment which were used to
communicate with Mossad were identified and arrested by the IRGC forces.
Mortazavi said that members of the group had direct contacts with
Mossad and had been trained by that service in Tel Aviv, adding that
they had been trained for assassinations, explosion, professional
motorbike riding, and working with special cameras, computers and
satellites.
He added that the group had also been trained in four foreign
countries, several of which are Iran's neighbors.
Mortazavi said that Mossad had approached a former member of Basij
(voluntary force) under the IRGC command and linked to him through an
Israeli consulate in a regional country.
"After training, the man was assigned to attract other people and
organize them for espionage and that he came back to Iran to carry out
the plans."
Espionage, explosion, assassination of some of the country's military
scientists as well as blowing up the country's military, missile and
important strategic bases were the missions of the team, Mortazavi said.
The court will sentence the spy to capital punishment, he said, adding
the group were arrested before carrying out any operations.
