AZERBAIJAN MINISTER OF CULTURE AND TOURISM MEETS IFLA PRESIDENT
Baku, 25 November,(AzerTAj)Azerbaijan Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz
Garayev met Tuesday with President of the International Federation of Library
Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Ellen Tise.
Garayev informed Tise on Azerbaijan`s library system.
He said the country`s National and Presidential libraries are widely cooperating
with their foreign counterparts and are also members of a large number of
international organizations, including IFLA.
Stressing President Ilham Aliyev`s attention towards developing Azerbaijan`s library
system, the minister said work is underway – under a Presidential order - to
republish in Latin script classic works by Azerbaijani and world writers to donate
them to libraries across the country.
Tise said she visited the National library during her trip, adding she highly
praises conditions created there.
The IFLA President expressed confidence her Baku visit will contribute to
strengthening cooperation between IFLA and Azerbaijani libraries.
