Kazakhmys implements innovative technology to process rough copper concentrate

KARAGANDA. KAZINFORM - A pilot project for the processing of rough copper concentrate worth KZT 1.3 billion has been implemented in Zhezkazgan in the framework of Industrialization Map, Akim of Karaganda region Baurjan Abdishev informs. "At the moment we consider the project on "Construction of pilot unit for crude copper concentrate hydrometallurgical processing" of Kazakhmys Corporation. The project cost is KZT 1.3 billion", said the head of the region at the meeting of the coordinating council on the implementation of the State program of forced industrial-innovative development. Akim of the region noted that the project was of high importance. "It is part of Zhezkazgan region integrated development plan, and its implementation will extend the production for many years", said B. Abdishev. According to Murat Kurmanov, Kazakhmys capital construction department chairman, this year it is planned to fully develop the project documentation. The construction will be launched in 2015. "The new technology will allow to process low-grade ore and rough copper concentrate at low operating costs and energy consumption", said M. Kurmanov. Coordinating Council approved the project's inclusion in the Industrialization Map.
