Deputy Premier receives Australian Agriculture Minister
Manama: April 7 – (BNA): Deputy Premier Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa said that the Kingdom of Bahrain looks forward to establishing further trade and economic relations with Australia.
The Deputy Prime Minister received a visiting Australian delegation led by Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce accompanied with several senior Australian Agriculture Ministry officials.
Shaikh Khalid expressed his delight at the progress of bilateral relations between Bahrain and Australia especially Australian livestock exports to accomplish Bahrain's food security which is an important dossier given constant care and follow-up from HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister.
Shaikh Khalid praised the efforts of the Australian government led by Prime Minister Tony Abbot and Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce and his ministerial crew for their expressed cooperation with the Bahraini side in facilitating the resumption of Australian livestock imports soon in tranches.
The Australian Agriculture Minister expressed his country's readiness to expand bilateral relations so as to cover dairy products, cereals, educational expertise.
Australia and Bahrain have established bilateral relations since1971.
The meeting was attended by Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Dr. Jum'a bin Ahmed Al-Kaabi, Australia's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Neil Hawkins and several senior officials from both sides. (IY)
