AZERI MINISTER OF INDUSTRY AND ENERGY ATTENDS FIRST INTERNATIONAL GAS FORUM IN VIENNA
Baku, 25 November,(AzerTAj)Azerbaijani delegation led by Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev attended Monday the first International Gas Forum held in Vienna, Austria.
The event was co-organized by the International Energy Forum and International Gas
Union.
The forum brought together energy ministers from Azerbaijan, Algeria, Qatar, the
Netherlands, Egypt, Iran, Russia and other countries, heads of international
organizations, as well as major companies including Gazprom, Total, StatoilHydro.
The event`s participants focused on energy security, diversification of gas
pipelines and other issues.
In his remarks Natig Aliyev touched upon the 4th energy summit recently held in
Baku. He also told of Azerbaijan`s gas potential, gas resources to be transported to
world markets in the future.
He stressed his country was curious about transporting its energy resources to world
markets.
Following the forum, Natig Aliyev told AzerTAc`s special correspondent that European
countries highly appreciate Azerbaijan`s role in ensuring Europe`s energy security.
According to him, such events provide opportunities for Azerbaijan to demonstrate
its importance to European countries and also major energy companies.
On the sidelines of the Forum, Natig Aliyev met with Austrian Federal Ministry of
Economy and Labor Martin Bartenstein to discuss bilateral cooperation in the energy
sphere. They stressed the importance of development of cooperation between the State
Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic and Austria`s state-owned energy company – OMV.
The Azerbaijani Minister also met with Director-General of the United Nations
Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Kandeh Yumkella. Natig Aliyev said
relationship between Azerbaijan and UNIDO was rapidly developing.
Azerbaijan`s Ambassador to Austria Fuad Ismayilov was also present at the Forum.
