Shin to play in Japan's season-ending golf competition

SEOUL, Nov. 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korean sensation Shin Ji-yai will compete in Japan's season-ending golf tournament this week, hoping to extend a superb season that included three U.S. LPGA titles.

Shin, who won the ADT Championship in Florida on Monday (Korean time) as a
non-LPGA member, has claimed a total of 11 titles this year and hopes to add
another by winning the four-day Ricoh Cup Championship that begins on Thursday in
Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan.
The 20-year-old has won three LPGA competitions since August, including the
British Women's Open, which granted her membership in the U.S. circuit starting
next year.
At the upcoming tournament at the 6,442-yard Miyazaki golf club, she will play
alongside her compatriot and top rival, Lee Ji-hee, a 29-year-old who ranks first
in Japanese money standings, according to organizers.
The Ricoh Cup Championship offers a total prize of 100 million yen (US$1
million), from which the winner will take away 25 million yen, the organizers
said.
