PASSENGER TRAFFIC ON RISE IN AZERBAIJAN
Baku, 25 November,(AzerTAj)Passenger transport conveyed 1 billion people in January-October 2008, up by 7.9% on the same period last year, according to the State Stats Committee.
Passenger traffic in the non-state sector made up 83.4%. The
share of motor transport made up 83.5% and metro 15.9%.
Motor transport carried 70,300,000 tons of cargo and 851,300,000 people, up by 7.4%
and 6.9% respectively over the 2007 figure. 96.7% of passengers used buses and 3.3%
taxi cabs. Cargo traffic rose by 8.5% while passenger traffic 8.6%.
The number of those using subway increased by 13.9% to 162,300,000 people.
