KUWAIT PROMISES TO REPATRIATE PROBLEMATIC INDONESIAN WORKERS

Kuwait City, Nov 25 (ANTARA) - The Kuwait Union of Domestic Labor Office (KUODLO) has promised to repatriate about 380 problematic Indonesian workers (TKIs) now being placed at the Indonesian Embassy here, KUODLO chairman Fadel Mohammed Al Sharaf said.
"We are ready to provide assistance," Al Sharaf said in a meeting with Moh Jumhur Hidayat, Head of National Workers Protection and Placement Overseas (BNP2TKI), here on Monday night.
KUODLO is an organization which groups foreign manpower suppliers in Kuwait.
During the meeting Jumhur asked Al Sharaf to help repatriate the Indonesian problematic workers from Kuwait. Al Sharaf said that he would help the Indonesian embassy repatriate the TKIs.
"We are ready to send them to Indonesia until their number is reduced to 50 persons only. If need be, the remaining 50 persons could be accommodated for the time being in my places before they are repatriated by other parties," Al Sharaf said.
Previously, in a meeting between the TKIs and Jumhur, the Indonesian ambassador to Kuwait said that the embassy had to spend some Rp2 billion annually to provide meals for the problematic TKIs.
Jumhur arrived in Kuwait Sunday night for an official visit to the Middle East.
In the January-July 2008 period, according to the Indonesian embassy, 12,205 Indonesian workers had been placed in Kuwait, the third biggest after Saudi Arabia which has 75,770, and the United Arab Emirates 14,191 in the same period. ***5***
