SILVER LINED CLAMSHELL IN HIGH DEMAND ON EXPORT MARKET
Denpasar, Nov 24 (ANTARA) - Silver plated clam shell handicrafts with Balinese carvings are very much sought by Europeans, especially in Italy, Germany and the UK.
The sale of the commodities increased in the export market due to the unique look of the products" Denpasar handicraft salesman, Nyoman Sutarmi, said here Monday.
Head of the Bali industry and trade agency Ngurah Suteja said that this year's foreign exchange revenue had increased because of these commodities.
The export of the commodities has produced 2.3 million US dollars until September 2008, a 30 percent increase compared to last year's 1.8 million US dollars, he said.
Everybody admitted that Balinese craftsmen are creative in producing handicraft articles.
Domestic tourists especially Jakarta's women, were also interested in the goods, estimated worth at Rp500,000-Rp5 million, depending on size and motif.
