Lubna, Australian official discuss cooperation
Abu Dhabi, Nov 24, 2008 (WAM) - UAE Foreign Trade Minister HE Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi discussed yesterday with Australian Communications, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations at Queensland State Hon. John Michael, trade and investment cooperation and means of enhancing them.
They also discuss appropriate measures to set up joint investment ventures to tap the existing economic potentials and investment opportunities between the two countries. The two sides applauded the level of bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of trade and investment, calling for expanding base of joint cooperation.
Sheikha Lubna stressed that the UAE was keen to boost the relations with Australia, particularly in the trade and investment fields.
The Australian official underlined that the government of Queensland was interested to boost cooperation chances and joint coordination with the UAE, particularly in the investment and commercial fields. He briefed Sheikha Lubna about his tour in the UAE and meeting of the private and public companies, as well as tour of the labour city allocated to the workers of an Australian company operating at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Michael lauded the level of the services and entertainment provided to labour in line with the developed countries' standard.
The trade exchange between the UAE and Australia has witnessed growth in recent years. Non oil trade in 2007 stood at Dh10.3 billion.
