DMC to showcase 42 shortlisted entries at Ibda'a Media Student Awards Exhibition

Dubai, Nov 24, 2008 (WAM) - Dubai Media City (DMC), a member of TECOM Investments, today announced it will showcase the 42 shortlisted entries selected for the Ibda'a Media Student Awards 2008 at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.

The exhibition will remain open from 24-29 November. This year, Ibda'a Awards has received more than 2,200 entries from 25 countries including new competition entrants Brazil, Poland, Sri Lanka and Sudan.

Shortlisted candidates from overseas will be flown to Dubai where they will join UAE-based finalists to attend the exhibition and the Ibda'a gala awards ceremony scheduled for 27 November.

Mohamed Al Mulla, Coordinator General of the Ibda'a Media Students Awards, said: "The Ibda'a Media Student Awards Exhibition will yet again validate the enormous range of creativity that exists among the young. The 42 shortlisted entries that have qualified for the final round of the competition are some of the most innovative and intellectually inspiring works that will vie for honours at the finale.

"The overwhelming response we have received from the world's most creative youth testifies the Ibda'a Awards' wide appeal as a global media event. We will continue to showcase and foster exceptional skills that significantly benefits the media industry." Featuring outstanding talent from Egypt, India, Iran, Lebanon, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, and the UAE, the shortlisted works represent 10 award categories including Animation, Analogue Photography, Digital Photography, Film/TV Feature, Graphic Design, Journalism, Print Advertising, TV Advertising, TV Documentary, and Radio.

Ibda'a winners in the 2008 edition of the awards will receive attractive prizes including internships with leading global media brands such as CNN, Arabian Radio Network (ARN), Xische Studios, Team Young '&' Rubicam, Motivate Publishing, Nikon, Leo Burnett, Saatchi '&' Saatchi, CNBC and MBC.

Since its launch in June 2001 to discover, showcase and foster young media talent, the Ibda'a Media Student Awards have to date been presented to 57 winners.
