New U.S. administration considers Yemeni Guantanamo detainees, Seche

SANA'A, Nov. 23 (Saba) - The new U.S. administration consider the
issue of the Yemeni detainees in Guantanamo Camp, the U.S.
ambassador to Yemen Stephen Seche said on Sunday.

Seche, who held talks with Minister of Justice Ghazi al-Aghbari,
highlighted that the elect-president Barack Obama announced his
intention to close Guantanamo Jail.

The Yemeni announcement to try its Guantanamo detainees fairly will
assist in the extradition of them to Yemen, Seche added.

Al-Aghbari renewed the Yemeni request to extradite the Yemeni
detainees along with the all evidences to be tried according to the
Yemeni laws.

He reviewed the government's efforts to combat corruption, noting
that there is a strong will to apply anti-corruption laws.

The meeting discussed the possibility of signing a cooperation
agreement between the two countries in the penal aspects as well as
resuming the support program of the U.S. Department of Commerce
concerning training the judges of commercial courts in Yemen.

The American diplomat voiced its country's support to train the
Yemeni judges and its keenness on exchanging visits and expertise in
judicial field.
