EIGHT CENTURY BANK OFFICIALS BARRED FROM OVERSEAS TRAVEL

Jakarta, Nov 22 (ANTARA) - The directorate general of immigration at the Law and Human Rights Ministry om Saturday officially prohibited eight executives of Century Bank to go abroad.
"The eight executives are membrs of the bank's boards of commissioners and directors," Director of Investigating and Action for Immigration Muchdor said.
The eight Century Bank executives were Chief Commissioner Sulaiman AB, Commissioners Poerwanto Kamajadi and Rusli Prakasa, Managing Director Hermanus Hasan Muslim, Deputy Managing Director Hamidy, Marketing Director Lila K. Gondokusumo, Subservience Director Edward M. Situmorang and Stockholder Robert Tantular.
The preventive measure was taken in compliance with a request from the Finance Ministry based on Finance Minister's Decree No. 337/KMK.01/2008 dated November 21, 2008.
"The request , however, does not give the reason for the overseas travel ban on the eight Century Bank officials," Muchdor said, adding that the ban was valid for one year.
Since November 21, Century Bank has been taken over by the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) which means the bank can no longer operate.
Previously, Bank Indonesia (the central bank) Governor Boediono said Century Bank had lost in clearance because of the high intensity of income and outcome transactions due to its tight liquidity condition.
"They have to be responsible to provide the funds," Boediono said.
