UAE to continue march towards progress

The UAE marks the 37th anniversary of its National Day on December 2 with a strong determination to maintain the momentum of the process of political, social and cultural empowerment launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan two years ago.

The process builds on the rich legacy left behind by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan - the founding father of the nation - whose visionary leadership speaks of itself in all fields of development.

As the nation celebrates this glorious occasion, it cannot but pay a rich tribute to Sheikh Zayed as it made remarkable strides under his leadership.
The UAE has gained a pride of place among the nations of the world. With major economic development projects achieved within three decades, the country is now laying greater emphasis on empowerment of its people, a task that was clearly spelt out by Sheikh Khalifa.

In his statement to the nation on the occasion of the 36th National Day anniversary, the President outlined his vision for the growth of the nation.
He said: "As we celebrate this noble occasion, we are full of confidence that we will achieve the objectives which we set for ourselves a couple of years ago." Sheikh Khalifa's address was endorsed as a government strategy with human capital taking centre stage.

This placed the UAE on the threshold of a new era whose hallmarks include enhancing cooperation between local and federal institutions; improving the decision-making process; upgrading the performance of government institutions; harnessing human resources; and improving the quality of services.
The key to the success of this strategy lies not only with the ideas or financial resources but with the degree of commitment and dedication of those who will implement it.

Its objectives will not be achieved without the introduction of true programmes for the development of young national leaders who are capable of shouldering the responsibilities and its ends will also not be reached unless the private sector works pro-actively as a full partner in national development.
Dubai (WAM) Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, has instructed all government bodies in the emirate to start celebrating the 37th anniversary of the UAE National Day.

Sheikh Hamdan extended his congratulations to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and the UAE government and people on the occasion.

Sheikh Hamdan unveiled the logo of this year's celebrations in Dubai. The logo features the UAE fag in the shape of number 2, citing December 2, on which the federation was announced.
